Overview
Bandung was chosen as the focus: CNN Indonesia lists it among Indonesia's seven best-known tourist cities, spanning nature, education, entertainment and culinary destinations. The analysis covers Bandung City and West Bandung Regency, where the best-known sites — Tangkuban Perahu, De'Ranch, Dago, Bosscha, Lembang, Trans Studio — are located.
Challenge
Tourists travel a long way to a city and are frustrated on arrival because the destination is overcrowded.
Objective
Help travellers plan around crowding rather than discover it on arrival.
Approach
Deliberately narrowed to one city before designing anything. The write-up states the constraint explicitly: focusing on Bandung made it possible to understand what that specific place actually needs.
Selected decisions
Scoping to a single region was the design decision. A national tourism app would have produced generic screens; one region produced specific ones.
Deliverables
Research write-up, problem statement, and interface design for the concept.
Outcome
A concept and case study. It was not taken to production.
Reflection
Narrowing to one city was the most useful decision in the project. Constraint did more for the design than ambition would have.
